PH Pallets Environmental Q & As
How do you recycle broken pallets? |
We repair where possible and we dismantle to reuse components where its not possible. |
What happens to pallets that you can’t repair? |
Any parts that can’t be used to fix broken pallets go for shredding. |
How are PH Pallets helping the environment? |
At PH Pallets we are proud to have recycling at the heart of our business.
By supplying recycled pallets we are preventing the use of new resources to make new pallets
(therefore saving trees and reducing the carbon footprint).
We go the extra mile, to repair broken pallets ensuring as many pallets as possible are reused.
As well as supplying pallets we also sell Purebed Premium Equine Bedding, which is made by chipping unusable pallets. |
What is closed loop recycling? |
PH Pallets adopt the closed loop recycling model. Closed-loop recycling is a production process whereby customer waste is collected, recycled and used to make new products. |
How does closed loop recycling work? |
The closed loop recycling technique involved reusing and recycling throughout the whole process. So our model includes collecting waste pallets, resell them, repairing broken pallets, using components from broken pallets for repair, chipping unusable pallets, converting them into animal bedding. |
Why is closed loop recycling important? |
By operating both of these systems on site we can significantly reduce the amount of new resources required and also the amount of waste going to landfill.
What do you do to reduce waste? |
By recycling pallets AND chipping any pallets that can’t be used to transform into animal bedding, the level of waste produced as part of the manufacturing process is very small. |
What is wood fibre? |
Wood fibre is shredded Grade A packaging material ie made from pallets crates and wooden boxes. |
How do you make wood fibre animal bedding? |
Unwanted wooden pallets are shredded/chipped. The dust is extracted, then the resultant bedding is bagged ready for sale. See our Purebed Premium Equine Bedding website for more information. |
